Mike Trout over the last few seasons is regarded as baseball's best player.  He is a six-time MLB All-Star.  He received the American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in 2014 and 2016 while finishing second in 2012, 2013 and 2015.  I wanted to capture Mike at bat in a painting that was loose in style with an urgency of the moment.  In this post, I will share the progression of this painting from start to finish....

Impressionism was an art movement that turned upside down  the conventions of what art was supposed to be.  The previous regimes of stylized portraits, panoramic landscapes and capturing an idealized reality were largely abandoned.  Popularized in the late 19th century, the impressionist artists and their paintings today continue to be the most popular museum exhibits found across the world.  Artists like Monet, Renoir, Degas and countless others, have influenced generations of artists to follow.  In this post, I am going to discuss some of the tenants of Impressionism and how my sports art is influenced by these masters.
