Title: Going For It   |   Limited Edition 50 This painting was inspired by the fearlessness of basketball guards driving hard and often creatively exhibiting athleticism to get a shot off over an intimidating defense. I tried to effectively capture that moment in the player’s expression and body movement. Once the player is committed there is no turning back, only his instincts take over. As a viewer, we don’t know if the shot was made, missed, blocked or fouled- somehow that seems an afterthought to the heart and soul of “going for it”. The painting was done in a fairly loose style with acrylics where the action speaks for itself.
