I oriented the work to follow the flow of the second basemen’s swooshing glove and tag. Much of the brushwork is imperfect, rough and spontaneous in nature. The approach seems to suit the immediacy of the action and moment. I also used a limited color palette particularly cool yellow, browns and greens to simplify presentation. The aim was to produce a highly suggestive painting where detail is reduced to an essence.
